LEGACY DESIGN BUILD REMODELING WINS 2011 GUILDMASTER AWARD

Legacy Design Build Remodeling has been awarded a GuildMaster award for exceptional customer service by GuildQuality, a national performance ratings firm for builders, remodelers, contractors and real estate companies. Legacy was one of only two remodeling companies in Arizona to receive the award.

The GuildMaster award is based on exemplary customer service as demonstrated by measured consumer recommendation rates via a survey issued at the conclusion of each project. In order for a member to receive an award, their average customer recommendation rate must exceed 90 percent.

Some of the comments received by Legacy customers include: "All did an exceptional job"; "The quality of the work and Legacy's communication and follow-up are exceptional"; "Overall...very satisfied, excellent work, would definitely recommend to others." A full review of Legacy's customer satisfaction results may be viewed at GuildQuality's website: www.guildquality.com/guildmaster. Any additional feedback is updated and may be viewed on a daily basis.

GuildMaster's recent commendation adds yet another accolade to Legacy's growing list of awards for 2010-2011. Most recently, Legacy received five local and three regional CotY awards in the National Association of Remodeling Industry's (NARI) South Central regional competition.

Legacy Begins New Year With Industry Accolades

(SCOTTSDALE, AZ. February 8, 2011)

For the second consecutive year, Scottsdale-based Legacy Design Build Remodeling has been recognized by the National Association of Remodeling Associates (NARI) for outstanding remodeling work, receiving five local and three regional awards in NARI's South Central regional competition.

Legacy won in the following categories:  Universal design, residential kitchen under $40,000, residential bathroom $30,000-$60,000, residential kitchen $40,000-$80,000 and residential bath over $60,000.  In addition, Legacy was awarded best of show for residential bath over $60,000.

The local and regional winner of the CotY universal design award was judged on the overall usability in design for people of all ages and physical capabilities.  Legacy took an existing master bathroom layout and successfully re-designed the area to comfortably accommodate a retired couple with evolving medical needs.  The master bath's layout was revised for easier access to the new jetted therapy walk-in bathtub, and a barrier-free roll-in shower was installed with a flip down seat--complete with a mildew-resistant accordion door for effortless opening and closing.  The cabinetry and vanity were also upgraded to include a suspended sink which could be utilized for future use in a wheelchair. Because the couple were avid pet lovers, a GFCI outlet was added specifically for an automatic cat-watering unit.

For the residential kitchen award under $40,000, a previous Legacy client wanted to re-create their new home's kitchen to be both contemporary and functional while being mindful of a modest budget. The first step was to relocate the sink and dishwasher allowing more elbowroom when cooking in the double oven.  In doing so, the arrangement offered opportunities for increasing the size of the upper cabinetry from 42" to 48" with the addition of new valances with task lighting.  With the new storage area completed, several countertop appliances could be put away, improving the overall organization of the space.  Under cabinet lighting was installed where needed and solid-surface countertops replaced existing tile and grout.

The owners of the winning bathroom remodel in the $30,000- $60,000 category, were also looking for a more contemporary space with a spacious shower area and ample room for both his and her vanities and upgraded cabinetry.  The outdated tub was eliminated to accommodate a larger shower including a drying-off area, two benches for seating and clear glass shower panels.  The vanity area was remodeled to create better storage space, and more efficient sconce lighting was positioned near the mirrors.

The local award, including "best in show", for a residential bath over $90,000, went to a home whose owner was seeking a luxurious master bath and dressing area with a country club atmosphere. Legacy transformed the basic builder-grade bath area into expansive opulence:  Ceramic tile countertops were replaced with Michelangelo black marble; lighting was upgraded to wrought iron sconces and overhead chandelier; and a travertine tile-covered seating bench completed the rebuilt shower for two.  A wall was eliminated between the existing bath area and dressing room, creating an overall symmetrical and seamless transition from "wet" areas to the comfort of a "dry" dressing room.

Legacy Design Build Remodeling emerges as winner in 2010 Chrysalis Awards

(SCOTTSDALE, AZ. May 20, 2010)

Legacy Design Build Remodeling has been awarded three 2010 Chrysalis awards in recognition for outstanding excellence in residential remodeling.

The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation's best work in fifteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling, including National Remodeler of the Year winners. Sponsored in part by Qualified Remodeler Magazine, the awards are open to any professional remodeler or design professional in the United States.

Of the 475 national entries that participated in this year's annual competition, 87 received awards. Recipients were judged on overall design, creative use of space and materials and the degree in which the project enhanced the original structure.  The judges' panel included editors and writers of such highly respected consumer publications as Better Homes & Gardens, Woman's Day's Home Remodeling & Makeovers, Southern Living Magazine and Sunset Magazine.

Legacy, which has been absent from the Chrysalis competition since 2000, when they took top honors in the category of whole house remodel,  $500,000 to $1 million, finished first regionally in three categories:  Whole house remodel over $1 million for the Gburek residence, addition over $100,000 for the Vanzutphen home and exterior residential remodel for the Wier property. According to Legacy's president, Mark Olson, these award-winning properties exemplify Legacy's first-rate, quality design and construction.  "Qualified Remodeler is the premier magazine in the remodeling industry, and it's a real honor to be selected for three awards."

Ken Kanline, Director of Awards for Chrysalis, adds, "To win an award in these highly competitive categories is quite an achievement."

Legacy Named "Best in AZ" by Ranking Arizona for Sixth Year In A Row

(SCOTTSDALE, AZ. April 1, 2010)

Ranking Arizona and Arizona Business Magazine has named Legacy Design Build Remodeling, with headquarters in Scottsdale, the state’s top remodeler for the sixth consecutive year, in its 13th annual readers' poll.

Over 35,000 residents participated in Arizona’s largest business opinion poll by casting their votes for deserving businesses. Over 250 categories are represented; the top ten in each category are ranked. Its previous awards include Professional Remodeler's "Remodeler of the Year" award, one of the "101 Best Companies to Work For" in the residential construction industry and a finalist in the 2002 Better Business Bureau's Business Ethics award. Legacy was also nominated for Arizona State University’s Spirit of Enterprise Award in 2006.

Despite the down turning economy and reduced number of housing starts in the Valley, Legacy has been able to maintain a solid client base, while attracting new business. According to Legacy’s president, Mark J. Olson, this is due in part to the homeowners’ decision to invest in their current home, forfeiting the “trade up” mindset that has prevailed over the last five to six years. “Remodeling projects shouldn’t be considered because they’re going to increase the value of the home, but because they will enhance someone’s lifestyle.”

Since being founded in 1988 by Rosie Romero, host of "Rosie on the House" a home improvement talk show on KTAR radio, Legacy has steadily increased its volume while maintaining a reputation of honest, quality workmanship—attributes Olson believes are essential in hard times, explaining,  “Our customers want to feel comfortable knowing they are receiving the best value for money spent.  At Legacy, we are dedicated to always exceeding those expectations.”

Legacy Advances to Next Level in Building National Recognition

(SCOTTSDALE, AZ., February 10, 2010)

Legacy Design Build Remodeling took another step towards national recognition with the recent announcement that two of their entries won in the National Association of the Remodeling Industry's (NARI), CotY (Contractor of the Year) awards in the South Central region.  Legacy previously won six CotYs in NARI's Arizona Chapter competition last November.

Legacy's winning entries included categories for entire house remodel, $500,001 to $1,000,000 and entire house remodel, $1,000,000+.  Both properties are located in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The winner for the entire house remodel under $1,000,000 (click here for before and after photos) featured a complete transformation of an existing home currently outgrown by its family. Because of pre-existing setback restrictions, Legacy could only construct additional square footage by adding onto the back of the home or building a second story.  By doing both, Legacy fulfilled the homeowner's vision of an expansive, yet comfortable living environment, with secluded work and private relaxation areas. A new family room with extensive entertainment amenities-- including a media center with whole-house audio--dramatically increased the recreational space. Children's bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a large master suite with adjoining bath and walk-in closets further enhanced the overall living space. The second story offers a private guest suite.   Legacy's project consultant for the design and remodel was Steve Yeomans.

The winner of the entire house remodel over $1,000,000 (click here for before and after photos) involved an addition of 2400 square feet to the interior main home as well as a total upgrade of the exterior landscaping, guest home and pool area.  Overseen by Legacy's project consultant, Greg Dumka, the renovation involved adding on a new family room, powder room and extra bedroom while integrating the undersized, enclosed kitchen and separate dining room into a functional entertainment area.  The master bedroom and bath also received a face-lift in the form of additional built-in storage, increased shower space and a private entrance to the outdoor spa and lounging area.  A "sport court" area with room for both basketball and tennis was built in the center of the backyard with a hardened bike path for the children.

Both entries will now face all regional CotY award winners in NARI's national competition to be announced on April 10, 2010, at the Wyndham Phoenix.

Legacy Design Build Remodeling Constructs Clear Win in Regional Contractor of the Year Awards

(SCOTTSDALE, AZ. November 20, 2009)

The Arizona chapter of the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI) recently announced the results of their regional annual 2010 awards competition for Contractor of the Year, naming Legacy Design Build Remodeling a winner in six categories.

Known as the CotY awards in the industry, these prestigious merits of excellence are awarded to members in good standing who demonstrate functionality, design, innovation, degree of difficulty and craftsmanship in achieving their clients’ remodeling goals.  Of the 23 categories represented, Legacy took top honors in almost one-third of the entries, as follow:  residential kitchen $80,000 to $120,000; residential bath $30,000 to $60,000; residential addition under $100,000; residential addition $100,000 to $250,000; residential exterior $100,000 and over; and entire house renovation over $1,000,000.

For Legacy, the affirmation by NARI supports their continuing corporate efforts towards establishing a solid reputation of quality remodeling and design services underlined with a sound ethical perspective.  Absent from participating in the CotY competition since receiving two awards in 2004, the company directive was to focus on building a successful business model first.  “We felt confident that if we did our job well, then the awards would ultimately follow”, says Mark J. Olson, Legacy’s CEO.

“This recognition from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry further reinforces the positive feedback we’ve received from our clients.”

Legacy entries will now be judged in NARI’s national competition with winners to be announced on in the spring of 2010.
